New Routes to Vitosha Mountain
Sofia Municipality plans four new routes to different parts of Vitosha for pedestrians and cyclists. The routes are from Arena Armeec sports hall to Simeonovski lift, from Borisova gradina to Dragalevtsi lift, from South Park to Vitosha eco-trail and from Vazrazhdane Park to Knyazhevo.
The team of “Green Sofia” at Sofia Municipality also works on a project for an electric bicycle station in the mountain as well as for the construction of bicycle paths to the end of “Bulgaria” and “Pushkin” boulevards, where there is a quick and easy access to Vitosha Mountain. The projects will be funded by EU programs.

More Destinations from Sofia Airport
Wizz Air will increase the number of its routes from the country to 44 in 2018. The new destinations will include Athens, Nice, Lisbon, Malaga and Vienna. In Bulgaria, Wizz Air has carried more than 2.5 million passengers in 2017, an increase of over 40% for the company.
The total passenger traffic for Sofia Airport rose by over 30% last year, which was the highest increase in Europe, according to the latest data. The airport services 36 airlines, which carried the record high 6.5 million people in 2017.

The New Road Connection between Brussels Blvd and Terminal 2 Officially Open
In early January, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski officially opened the new road connection between Brussels Boulevard and Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport.
The amount of the funds invested reaches BGN 13.7 million from the budget of the Ministry of Transport.
The new road is expected to ease the traffic in the area of Sofia Airport and the surrounding logistics and office centers.

Key Urban Spaces to Be Renovated
Sofia will receive BGN 41 million under “Regions in Growth” Operational Program to modernize key urban spaces in central Sofia. The area around “St. Alexander Nevsky” Cathedral, “National Assembly” Square, “Tsar Osvoboditel Alexander II” Monument, “St. Sofia” Church, the building of the Synodal Palace, “Vasil Levski” Monument, “St. Kliment Ohridski” Garden, the space between “Oborishte” Street and the Central Military Club as well as “Gina Kuncheva” Square are the areas that will undergo a renovation. The renovation plans also include “Graf Ignatiev” street with its “Giuseppe Garibaldi”, “P. R. Slaveikov” and “Patriarch Evtimii” squares, as well as selected streets around “Vitosha” Blvd.
The urban areas are to be connected by a common urban design. Procurements procedures are underway.
