Each city’s index is estimated based on combined data about housing indicators, health care, transportation, utilities, food and prices for everyday items people need or want.
Sofia’s index climbs up to 43.11 compared to last year’s index of 37.65 point, which makes the city a bit more expensive compared to 2017 but still among the most cost-friendly capitals to live in Europe and with the highest purchasing power among the 3 other Bulgarian cities in the ranking – Plovdiv, Varna and Bourgas. Sofia’s purchasing power index is 60 points, while the other three Bulgarian cities got 48 to 54.
