The Collision Conference, Toronto’s largest international technology event and the fastest-growing technology forum in North America, was held from June 20 to June 23. Dr. Maria Hristova, CEO of Invest Sofia, and Viktor Gоussev, Head of the Investment Analysis Department took part in the event.
Collision is part of a series of technology conferences that include the Web Summit in Europe and RISE in Hong Kong. After being hosted online twice during the pandemic, Collision’22 now gathered more than 35,000 visitors, more than 900 speakers, 1,500 start-ups, 1,200 journalists and 850 investors from 140 countries. Further, more than 120 trade delegations participated to explore business opportunities with international partners.
For the Canadian city, the event was an opportunity to engage the local business community with potential foreign partners and investors, as well as a stage for promoting international trade. Toronto is the city with the fastest-growing technology ecosystem in North America. Before the pandemic, as the third-largest tech center in North America, the Toronto region concentrated the highest number of technology companies in Canada. The sector employs over 400,000 people in 18,000 technology companies, representing 15% of all jobs. Based on its rapid growth, the city expects more technology jobs than Silicon Valley within two years.
During the networking sessions, Dr. Maria Hristova and Viktor Gusev talked to a number of entrepreneurs, investors, academia representatives, start-ups, and business leaders. They had the opportunity to present the activities of Invest Sofia and the business environment in Sofia, thus setting the stage for new potential contacts for investment in the city and for business partnerships between the local ecosystem and companies and organizations from around the world.
