More than 40 calls for applications for funding from the European Union will be announced in 2018. The programs target the public, non-governmental and private sectors. The year begins with the “Encouraging Entrepreneurship” procedure under the Innovation and Competitiveness Operational Program. The program is aimed at start-ups and provides a very high rate of grants (80%), while the eligible activities are very broad. Funding is up to BGN 200,000. Costs for the purchase of equipment and specialized software, rental of premises, marketing activities, salaries for expert positions, etc. are eligible for funding.
