The “25 hours in Creative Vienna”<\/strong> event\u00a0took place on 25-26 September, 2019 in Vienna. Fourteen Sofia-based companies from sectors like film, gaming, cultech, marketing and advertising, animation, a co-innovation hub and a creative hub joined the delegation.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 \u201825 Hours in Vienna\u2019 format aims at introducing Bulgarian entrepreneurs to the business environment in Vienna, helping them to establish key contacts with local partners, to encourage the exchange of know-how and to facilitate collaboration. This is the second joint business visit\u00a0 under the \u201825 Hours in Vienna\u2019<\/strong> format<\/p>\n

The first \u201825 Hours in Vienna\u2019 delegation<\/a> took place\u00a0last October with\u00a0 focus on biotech and fintech and was combined with a meeting of Sofia’s Mayor Mrs. Fandakova and\u00a0the Mayor of Vienna Mr. Ludwig. During the meeting Sofia Investment Agency and Vienna Business Agency signed the City-to-City cooperation agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The focus of last week’s event were the\u00a0creative industries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The program included presentations from\u00a0\u00a0the Vienna Business Agency, Invest Sofia, the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna, MA 7, the Austrian Investment Agency, the Vienna Film Commission, the Vienna Tourist Board, the creative SAE Institute Vienna (with more than 50 campuses in 26 countries), as well as representatives of the – one of the largest contemporary arts and culture districts in the world, encompassing 60+ cultural institutions, Subotron gaming hub, part of MuseumsQuartier and visits to Mumok Museum, Central Europe’s largest post-modernist art museum,\u00a0\u00a0\u2018Dockyard Create & Studio<\/a>\u2019 film studio, the innovative gaming studio \u2018Lost in the Garden<\/a>\u2019 and the award-winning \u2018ARX Anima<\/a>\u2019 animation studio.<\/p>\n

Why creative industries?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Creative industries are a priority sector for both Vienna, which is known as one of the most creative capitals in Europe, and\u00a0 Sofia, which is an established\u00a0regional ICT and start-up hub and a\u00a0rapidly developing creative and innovation center.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 The global creative market amounts to\u00a0 \u20ac468 billion and doubled in size in the last several years.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0Europe is the largest exporter of creative goods among developed economies. The European creative market is \u20ac157 billion<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0Creative industries account for 8% of Sofia\u2019s economy, which is above the EU average.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0Over \u00be of the creative industry in Bulgaria is concentrated in Sofia<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0The added value at factor cost of the creative industries in Sofia is\u00a0 around \u20ac911 million (latest data 2015)<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 Ubisoft, Gameloft and SEGA, some of the biggest global gaming companies,\u00a0have studios in Sofia<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0The film sector in Sofia consists of\u00a0900+ companies and employs\u00a0 3 900+ people<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 The Sofia-based software company Chaos Group\u00a0 won a Technological Oscar in 2017 for the overall contribution to the movie industry for their product\u00a0 V-Ray<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 The majority of the creative companies in Sofia are export-oriented, and despite their high added-value (often more than 100%), they are\u00a0not vocal enough\u00a0 in the local ecosystem.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 Film, video and TV production, digital visualization, software and gaming development, architecture,\u00a0 design, AR and VR – that unite creativity and technology- are the fastest developing creative sectors in Sofia.<\/p>\n
