Sofia ranks 2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nd<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with 54.56 points. The capital is the leader among all municipalities in the categories &#8220;Security and Privacy&#8221; and &#8220;E-Services&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year Gabrovo and Plovdiv are again in the top five. The new addition is Haskovo, climbing up 5 positions compared to the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2017 Index<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the findings of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ndex, there is a considerable improvement over the previous years in the \u201cSecurity and Privacy\u201d category. The average score of the 27 municipalities this year is 6.53 points, while in 2014, when the study was launched, it was only 1.81 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, analysts from the Economic Policy Institute have also introduced a new component \u2013 online monitoring of the financial accountability of the municipalities. The countries are assessed by 14 indicators in 4 categories: &#8220;Greenhouse gas emissions&#8221;, &#8220;Renewable energy&#8221;, &#8220;Energy use&#8221; and &#8220;Climate policy&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total coefficient of Bulgaria is 40.11 points \/out of 100\/. In <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-change-performance-index.org\/country\/bulgaria-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our country&#8217;s individual assessment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it is noted that Bulgaria is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">performing poorly<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in terms of state policies and domestic efforts to tackle climate problems. Furthermore, the assessment of the current use of renewable energy sources is also low, but the trend is promising &#8211; \u00a0that is why our overall \u201cRenewable Energy\u201d rating is high. The country receives an average assessment in the \u201cGreenhouse gas emissions\u201d category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ranking\u2019s leader is Sweden with a coefficient of 76.28 points, followed by Morocco and Lithuania.
