The results are based on data about 477 Bulgarian companies engaged in business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>According to the report:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa \u00a0In 2017, the sector boosted its revenues growth to 18.2% y\/y and the total operating revenues came in at EUR 2.1 bln. Outsourcing services accounted for 4.8% of Bulgaria\u2019s GDP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa \u00a0\u00a0In 2017, BPO generated 58% of the total outsourcing industry turnover. ITO companies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">however<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> registered a higher profitability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa In 2017, the registered net profit is lower compared to the previous two years &#8211; EUR 117 mln (down from EUR 124.6 mln in 2016 and EUR 138.4 mln in 2015)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa The sector accounts for some 2.4% of the labor market in Bulgaria, employing 67 300 at the end of last year (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">71.6% <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the BPO segment, and the ITO segment accounting for the remaining <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">28.4%<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa The sector is expected to double its turnover and generate EUR 4.0 bln and contribute 7.9% of the national GDP by 2021<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa Despite the slight decrease in paid taxes to EUR 15.5 mln, the outsourcing industry is among the leading taxpayers in Bulgaria \u2013 in 2017, it accounted for 1.3% of all taxes paid in the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aaOutsourcing generated 7.9% of the total salary costs and accounted for 6.2% of all social security contributions paid in the economy in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25aa Investors from the UK, the USA, the Netherlands and Germany are shareholders in more than half of all foreign-owned Bulgarian outsourcing companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among others things,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the report concludes that there is a tendency<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">diminishing boundaries between ITO and BPO due to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increasingly offered complex services in the industry. Most companies in the sector are concentrated in Sofia but more and more companies <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tend <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to become active in other big university cities, such as Plovdiv, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Burgas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14486 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG.jpg 594w, https:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG-300x246.jpg 300w, https:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG-178x146.jpg 178w, https:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG-50x41.jpg 50w, https:\/\/investsofia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Companies-Sofia-Outsourcing-sector-ENG-91x75.jpg 91w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Annual Industry Report of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association includes data on 244 BPO companies and 233 ITO companies.
