\"BALKANProgrammers from all Balkan countries will meet in Sofia, at the science and technology park <\/span>Sofia Tech Park<\/span><\/i> on June 27-28, to encode the digital future of Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Balkan Hackathon 2018 – Breaking the Digital Borders\u2019<\/span><\/i> will gather the best programmers, start-ups and established IT companies from all Balkan countries to find prototype solutions to the challenges <\/span>related to<\/span> Europe’s digital future and the digital connectivity in the Balkans. <\/span>The <\/span>projects should aim at improving online government tools, <\/span>as well as <\/span>protecting privacy and citizens’ security in a connected world, making technologies more accessible to all citizens, regardless of their <\/span>location<\/span>, age, sex and occupation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants will compete for cash prizes provided by Mtel, Sofia Municipality and the EC Representation in Bulgaria. Furthermore, the winning team will attend the events during \u2018<\/span>Europe Code Week 2018<\/span><\/i> \u2018 in Brussels <\/span>at the<\/span> invitation by <\/span>the <\/span>EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel.<\/span><\/p>\n

The working language of the Balkan Hackathon is English, and participants should register by June 1 on the website of the Hackathon: <\/span>www.balkanhackathon.eu<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The Balkan Hackathon <\/span>\u2018Breaking the Digital Borders\u2019<\/span><\/i> is under the patronage of the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel, the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council Lilyana Pavlova and the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova. It is organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, Sofia Municipality, <\/span>the<\/span> State E-Government Agency, Sofia Development Association, <\/span>the <\/span>Webit Foundation and Sofia Tech Park.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
